Westminster, London – protecting more than 30+ streets

Westminster City Council had been trying to rid the streets of gum for years with sealants and coatings but hadn’t found anything that had worked successfully.

Magic Cote and Westminster City Council Manager Mike Newport began trials in 2004 on Coventry Street, a street that sees some 2 million people a week pass over it. Magic Cote was successful in reducing the level of black spots on the pavement and in 2006 we were given the go ahead to protect Coventry Street after it had been deep cleaned.

During the last 4 years Magic Cote has increased its applications in Westminster to over 30 streets. Our protection products have been used on Shaftsbury Avenue, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Westminster Cathedral, Oxford Circus crossing, Palace of Westminster, London Bridge BID and the Animals in War Memorial.  Protection with Magic Cote products is now a standard to be done on all new lay projects in Westminster.
